Six Weeks Before Move:

  • Call for moving estimates.
  • Call the Chamber Of Commerce and Visitors & Convention Bureau in your new town and get their new resident information packages.
  • Inventory all household items to be moved, and start packing NOW!
  • Remove all items from basement, storage sheds, attics, and plan a garage sale or charity donation for all items you don't want to move.
  • Start using things up that you can't move, like cleaning supplies and frozen food.
  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.
  • Complete U.S. Postal Service change of address forms and mail them to all applicable publications, stores and organizations.
  • Get copies of (or arrange for transfer at both ends of move) all school, medical, dental, veterinary, legal, and accounting records.
  • Contact insurance agents to transfer or cancel coverage.
  • If it's a company move, check with your employer to find out what moving expenses they cover.
  • Get a mail subscription for the local paper in your new location to familiarize yourself with the new community, its activities and issues.
  • Locate and obtain all automobile licensing and registration information.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

What our clients are saying

"Your team has been so responsive. Sometimes it feels like I'm getting an answer from you before I even finish texting you a question."

~ Jacob

"We interviewed 15 Realtors and you were the only one that told us you could sell the home we owned for only 15 months without us having to write a check at closing. Not only did we not have to write a check but we walked away with one. Great job Tarry Team!"

~ Mike

The Tarry Team bought an investment property for me in the Spring of 2017. The home closed in 30 days and on closing day I called Tom to get the keys. He told me he would meet me at the home in 20 minutes. Upon arrival he opened the mailbox and gave me the key to my new property. Tom cared enough that he came to the property to shake my hand and thank me for my business. He could have easily told me that the key to my home was right in the mailbox. Needless to say The Tarry Team now buys and sells all of my properties for me.

~ John

We worked with The Tarry Team on the purchase of our first home. The home we ended up most interested in was a "For Sale By Owner" home. Tom and Jodi approached the homeowner and negotiated a fair price on our behalf. Not having a real estate agent on the other side of the transaction meant that Tom and Jodi had to do the paperwork for both sides of the transaction (the seller selling and us buying.) They never once complained and any time an issue came up they were right there to address it for us. We were so impressed we sent one of our relatives to them to sell their home. We highly recommend the Tarry Team.

~ Melissa

We met Tom and Jodi through a listing they had. While we didn't purchase that listing we did hire Tom and Jodi to purchase a house for us and to sell our home. Tom explained that he and Jodi have over 25 years of marketing experience and we believed that would be useful in selling our home. We never imagined that they'd sell our home, for 98% of the asking price, in 28 days. It was when they were presenting us with the offer that we informed them that they were the 4th real estate firm we'd hired to sell our home. We highly recommend working with the Tarry Team. Their marketing works!
